Explosion Occurs Near Polling Station In Enugu

Tragedy has been averted in Enugu State after a Honda car driven by yet to be identified persons and conveying items suspected to be improvised explosive devices (IED), exploded shattering the said vehicle on the road behind the WTC polling station at the Ogui area of Enugu.

It was gathered that due to the
heavy presence of security operatives at the venue, the drivers of the vehicle could not gain access to the polling area but had to park the vehicle and left before the blast occurred.

It was gathered that men of the anti-bomb squad of the Enugu State police command promptly intervened and defused the rest of the IEDs.

There was a large turnout of voters at the polling unit, which also witnessed heavy presence of security men. After the explosion occurred residents and voters around the area scampered for safety.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Dan Bature and other heads of sister security agencies were also at the scene to assure voters and other members of the public of adequate security.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
