Newborn Baby Miraculously Survives Being Buried Alive

A newborn baby was found alive after being buried for eight days in a cemetery in the mountains in southern China.

The baby boy was abandoned by his parents after being born with a cleft lip. But he was saved by a middle-aged woman who heard his crying while she was collecting herbs for Chinese medicine, Mail Online reported.

The woman, named Lu Fenglian, was shocked to hear the crying sounds and believing the mountain to be haunted ran to a Buddhist temple in order to ask for help.

The 75-year-old priest of the temple followed the woman and realised that the crying was in fact a baby. The sound was coming from underground in the area where there were lots of unmarked graves. The priest immediately called the police who arrived on scene and located the baby.

The half-alive baby was buried just five centimetres below the surface in a cardboard box. Police officers also found blankets and other clothing items inside the box.

The baby was rushed into a local hospital where he received emergency medical treatment. One of the nurses, Aunty Liu, said that the baby was in a very bad condition, thefore, he was kept in an incubator for several days.

When doctors cleaned the dirt off the baby’s body he vomited a thick black substance that reportedly was dirt that he had been swallowing being underground. The doctors believe that the baby miraculously survived because rainwater provided him with sufficient moisture.

The priest, who found the baby, said: “The baby was buried among numerous unmarked graves and was still found alive, so he must be blessed.”

During the investigation, the police traced and arrested the baby’s grandmother and three other relatives. However, they didn’t arrest heartless parents due a reported ‘lack of evidence’.
