GMB To scrap lifetime pension allowances for state governors
It appears that the position of the Executive governor of a state may not be as attractive under the watch of President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Vanguard, it is believed that Buhari , may lead a campaign to scrap pension laws enacted for ex governors in many states of the country.
This desire was said to have been first communicated a few days to the presidential election at the All Progressives Congress retreat in Owerri, Imo State.
In most states, pension entitlements provide 100 per cent pay for the incumbent governors’ buildings, generous medical allowances for them and their family members as well as annual holiday provisions.
These pension provisions are also expected to last for life.
In addition to the above, provision for staff, security and vehicle pension allowances which are renewable every three or four years.
According to Vanguard Newspapers, Buhari’s desire to review the pension for former governors was first communicated a few days to the presidential election at the All Progressives Congress retreat in Owerri, Imo State.
